Changes in the regulation of the Central Credit register

An amendment of Ordinance № 22 of Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) from 16.07.2009 for the Central Credit Register, supplements the current regime for obtaining information on the credit indebtedness of natural persons. The scope of the persons subject to registration has also expanded.

With the latest changes, the application for drawing up a reference in the Credit Register regarding natural persons may also be submitted in an electronic way, in addition to the previous way of submitting on spot to the BNB. The electronic application is filed personally by the individual who must have a qualified electronic signature containing a Personal ID.

Apart from the above, a new obligation is introduced for banks, payment institutions and electronic money companies to submit information to the Central Credit Register not only for their primary debtors, but also for their co-debtors and guarantors. This obligation enters into force on 3rd September 2019.
