On February 4, 2024, elections were held for the bodies of the Sofia Bar Association, including the Bar Council, Supervisory Board, and Disciplinary Court. However, the assumption of office by the elected members was delayed by nearly a year due to appeals filed and subsequently rejected by the Supreme Court of Cassation.
As a result, on January 14, 2025, the newly elected members of the Sofia Bar Council, Supervisory Board, and Disciplinary Court officially assumed office. The appointment of these members reflects the significant trust placed in them by the professional community and their steadfast commitment to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards within the legal profession.
Attorney Konstantin Vassilev began his term as a disciplinary judge at the Disciplinary Court of the Sofia Bar Association. The Disciplinary Court is responsible for overseeing and adjudicating matters related to lawyers’ compliance with professional obligations and ethical standards. It has the authority to impose disciplinary measures such as reprimands, fines, and temporary suspensions from practicing law. This role is vital in safeguarding the integrity and credibility of the legal profession for the benefit of society.
Attorney Vassilev continues to serve as Managing Partner at Vassilev & Partners Law Firm.
