Powers of attorney notarised by mayors will be entered into the notary online system

The Ministry of Justice grants limited access to the local administration authorities having the competence of notaries – mayor, deputy mayor, secretary of the municipality and deputy – mayor, to the information system “Edinstvo” of the Notary Chamber for entering excerpts of powers of attorney after simultaneous notarization of signature and content and excerpts of notarially certified documents by means of which powers of attorney are withdrawn.

This right has been introduced by Ordinance supplementing Ordinance No. 32 of 1997 on the official archives of notaries and notary offices. This application in the practice is realized through a user interface via Internet on a secure channel by logging in by the users. Thus, in accomplishing deals, notaries will be able to check in the database, whether these powers of attorney are genuine.

These changes have been introduced to protect citizens from frauds with forged powers of attorney.
